  1. Hey Gunsen,

Couldn't email you as it says your inbox is undergoing maintenance.

I just had a thought that if you did a list or typology of Japanese weapons (such as a list of the different types of yari, or the weapons of a certain era for example) a bit like what Great Ming Blog does, I think it would be the only one of it's kind on the web at the moment, and an incredible resource for Japanese Weaponry fans! However, I realise this would be a difficult task. It was just a small thought.

Love the blog and I have learned a lot, thank you very much for sharing all the information you do and keeping it all free!

    1. Thank you!

Hopefully my e-mail is available again now.
I was actually thinking of doing something similar especially for a Yari article, but the truth is that there are so many types of yari's blades that doesn't really fit into category as nicely as I would like them to do but I agree it will definitely be helpful.

At the same time, there is already such a massive amount of nomenclature and categorizations especially when it comes to Japanese swords, and you have to face that in order to make something of your own. I will it with a lot of confidence, you can spent 20 years easily on the study of Japanese arms and armors and still be a newbie!

But I will try my best especially when it comes to yari: I think that's the field in which nomenclature is still very confusing.

  2. Hello, do either of these cannon look familiar to you? If so, might you be able to identify them?

  5. Hi. I was just introduced to your blog by a person on reddit. I read your article on the Mongol invasions. I live in Fukuoka and have researched quite a bit about the Mongol Invasions. If you ever come to Fukuoka I would be happy to show you around the famous places and wall etc. You can see one of my posts here.... https://rekishinihon.com/2021/03/11/kublai-khans-lost-fleet-koan-war-2nd-mongol-invasion-of-japan-1281/ I am currently researching the participation of Matsuura pirates in the invasions. Cheers!
